The rapid escalation of Covid 19 has restricted face–to-face consultations with patients at our hospitals.

I am delighted to be offer a remote videolink consultation service using the GDPR–compliant interface of Whereby which is easy to use for both patients and doctors.

Most skin conditions can be diagnosed and managed remotely, and remote videolink consultations can be very useful for assessing response to treatment and follow up of a number of skin problems or conditions causing hair loss.

New rashes and inflammatory skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis may also be managed remotely in most cases.

Sometimes blood or other tests may be needed to establish or confirm a diagnosis and due to Covid restrictions these may be difficult to obtain at present and empirical treatment may therefore be recommended in these situations.

Occasionally a full skin examination would be recommended in person and can be undertaken at a later date once Covid restrictions are lifted.
